Apply these solutions.

1. Check your Guided Access Settings

First things first you should check if the settings to set up your guided access are made correct. Go to Settings > Accessibility > Guided Access > Toggle it and turn it ON.

Now you can check by triple-clicking your Home or Side button to enable Guided Access and check if it is working.

2. Disable Guided Access and then Enable it

Turn off guided access and then turn it on by going to Settings > Accessibility > Guided Access. First, turn it off, wait for a few seconds.

3. Force Restart your iPhone

If a simple restart does not resolve the issue, you may need to reset your iOS device hard. Depending on the iPhone model, different actions need to be taken.

Follow these steps if you’re using an iPhone 13/12/11/X/8

  • Pressing and quickly releasing the Volume Up and Volume Down buttons is necessary.
  • Once you see the Apple logo, continue to hold down the Side button.

Do the following actions on an iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus

  • Press and hold the Side and Volume Down buttons for at least 10 seconds, or until you see the Apple logo.

Do this if using an iPhone 6s or older

  • For at least 10 seconds, press and hold the Home and Power/Sleep buttons.

6. Remove Kiosk Policy

The Kiosk policy, which Apple introduced, may control newly downloaded programs. When the iOS device first turns on, it will attempt to load the software and lock it down as a kiosk. The smartphone will be secured if the app is not recognized.

To ensure proper functioning, you generally need to delete the Kiosk policy, with a few exceptions. However, please note that deleting the Kiosk policy will only be effective if it is either deployed, the kiosk software is not installed, or Guided Access is in supervised mode.

By taking the actions listed below, you can remove the Kiosk policy from the device:

  •  Choose the “Kiosk policy” under the “Policies” option to get started.
  • Then, select “Move to archive” by clicking the “Manage” option.
  • Choose the archived policy and click “Manage” after that.
  • To delete the policy, click the “Delete” option.

7. Reset your iPhone

A different approach to try is to reset your iPhone. Reset by going to:

  •  Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone.

  • If your device doesn’t have a lot of data stored on it, you can select Erase All Contents and Settings.

  • Open the app you wish to use for the functionality and enable Guided Access.
  • Double-tap the home or off button three times to start a Guided Access session.

Consequently, even if all settings are reset, data will not be lost. To avoid losing any data, you can completely delete the contents and settings of your device if it doesn’t hold a lot of information. But it is recommended to make a backup of your data before attempting this step. You can backup your device via iTunes, iCloud backup or by using any third-party app.

8. Restore the Device via iTunes

Similarly, you might restore your device using iTunes on your computer, which works on the same principles as a factory reset.

  • Run iTunes after connecting an iPhone or iPad to a computer.
  • Enter the Summary module by finding the icon for your device.
  • Click Back Up Now if you don’t have a backup.
  • The Restore iPhone (iPad) option will restore your device.
